Each hand beats every hand below it. Ties go to the higher cards, then the kicker; suits are never ranked.
Best starting hands
- Premium — always raiseA-A, K-K, Q-Q, J-J, A-KRaise for value from any seat.
- Strong — usually raiseT-T, 9-9, A-Q, A-J, K-QGreat hands; play them more carefully out of position.
- Speculative — play in position2-2 to 8-8, suited connectors, suited acesSee cheap flops in late position; fold to heavy action.
- Trash — foldOffsuit gappers, weak aces, most of everything elseEspecially from early seats. Patience is an edge.
The betting rounds

Count your outs, then outs × 2 ≈ % to hit on the next card, × 4 with two cards to come. Call when that beats the price the pot offers.
